    This is a fantastic opportunity for a technical artist looking for a varied and challenging role that encourages creative input and technical direction. The successful applicant will join an experienced team of technical artists; working on our flagship title RuneScape.


    RuneScape is an evolving product on PC and soon to be Mobile platforms, with players that have an insatiable thirst for content, meaning there’s always a need to evolve and modernise our pipeline and tools to keep up with their demand. Your role would involve collaborating with our artists & animators to develop, maintain and improve those tools and our pipeline.


    Working within our talented art team, you will:


    • Design & create user friendly tools that improve the art team’s quality & efficiency.
    • Work with the technology & tools teams to design features, both for the game engine and for tools/asset pipelines.
    • Develop visual features of the game, whether that’s writing shader code, pioneering new asset creation techniques, or creating technical prototypes and mockups.
    • Assist in the development of workflows and standards for efficient content generation.
    • Assists other artists in technical aspects of game content creation.
    • Support the team in debugging issues with the game, tools, etc.

    • Strong artistic background and content development skills (can be modelling, texturing, lighting, or any other area where you have experience, but a strong artistic eye is a necessity!)
    • Intermediate programming experience with scripting languages (MEL/Python/etc.) and shading languages.
    • Experience with Object Orientated or lower level language such as C# or C++
    • High-level familiarity with every aspect of game development, and how different disciplines collaborate.
    • A solid understanding of programmatic logic and structure.
    • A good understanding of shader language and concepts.
    • A good working knowledge of 3rd Party game engines such as Unity and Unreal.
    • Good pure mathematical knowledge including 3d vector math.
    • Good oral and written skills
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.




    • You have experience with any of the following packages: Max, ZBrush, Mudbox, Photoshop, Substance Painter, 3DCoat, Quixel Suite.
    • Understanding of physically based rendering.
    • Traditional 2D art skills.
