    Home to the iconic massive multiplayer online role-playing game RuneScape and its extended family of adventurous titles, we’re a leading games studio that places our players at the heart of everything we do. We’ve welcomed over 250 million players to RuneScape’s world of enthralling fantasy and, together with our team of passionate game creators, our community helps to shape how our games evolve. From casting votes on future game content, to interacting with the studio teams in live streams and in chat, we also join together in person at our celebrated fan convention, RuneFest. Together with our players, we’re united as one Jagex tribe. Together we’re building deep and engaging multiplayer gaming experiences for players everywhere.

    We are building towards a highly collaborative DevOps team, using Agile to deliver new product features, and to refine and maintain our key systems. You will help provide the hosting infrastructure, SRE and Corp IT functions to help the business provide and create the best games in the industry.

     Team / Leadership

    ·         Hire, maintain and continually developing a team of engineers, administrators and leaders

    ·         The ability to work optimally in cross functional teams across the business

    ·         Contributes to the career development of others providing frequent feedback, setting goals and works with other Leads, Managers and VP’s to ensure employee growth and development.

    ·         Accountable for the one-year tech strategy and how to continue improve that plan as it relates to the three-year strategy with the VP of Tech

     Hosting / Infrastructure / SRE

    ·         Maintain and improve our datacenters across the globe and help move us to a hybrid model of both public and private clouds

    ·         Mentor technical discussions and system design around datacenters / hosting designs keeping in mind scale, security, experience, availability and cost

    ·         Negotiate and commit to service level objectives with the different business units and product owners

    ·         Provide a suite of tools to developers like revision control, documentation and project management tools, and bug tracking

    ·         Manage storage and backup solutions

    ·         Manage network / transit providers / BGP / Anycast

    ·         Provide expertise and tools in helping automating builds, environment creation and promoting those artifacts through the different environments

    Corp Technology

    ·         Provide a strong collaboration and communication platforms (email, chat, file store, video etc) that can support a distributed workforce

    ·         Automate the provisioning, installing and update of end user compute systems

    ·         Implement an asset management system to track all (tech) items across the org

    ·         Revamp the ticketing system so users can report problems and get the necessary data to see how to best improve our service

    ·         Drive efficiencies and continuously improving the Corp IT user experience and infrastructure hosting areas.


    ·         Vendor negotiations, contract management and license management

    ·         Liaise with legal, procurement and accounting

    ·         Manage budget and forecasting


    ·         Ensure IT governance to meet compliance requirements like GDPR, PCI, Finance Audits

    ·         Understand the cyber security landscape and how to balance security vs efficiency for your areas

    ·         Provide transparency of those risks and negotiate how to best mitigate or accept those risks with the business

    ·         Create a business continuity and disaster recovery plans


    ·         Gamer at heart -> we expect our employees to be product focused

    ·         Expert in developing / mentoring engineers and administrators

    ·         Expert in Windows or Linux administration, networking experience a plus

    ·         Expert in breaking down business problems and creating/leveraging technical solutions to solve those problems

    ·         Expert in helping teams automate their SDLC 

    ·         Budget experience and vendor management experience required 

    ·         The ability to say “No” to requests while providing metrics and transparency allow the science of those decisions to be understood

    ·         Experience rolling out self-service tools/ports and general automation

    ·         Public and private cloud experience a plus

    ·         SRE and ITIL experience a plus

    ·         Experience working in agile environments in cross-functional teams

    ·         Experience in writing policy and creating plans / documentation on how to meet those compliance requirements.  PCI / GDPR etc..

    ·         Ability to present to stakeholders on your technical strategy on how to best enable the long-term needs of the business
